Skyrunners’ favourite ultra trail!
Who wants to do his first ultra or simply enjoy Stara, there is no better trail. This distance is twice as easy as the sky race, but it is not to be underestimated.
The race starts on May 25 (Saturday) 2024 from the Jabučka Ravništa (Stara Planina Hotel) at 7 a.m. in the morning, together with a 100km race. The track is the same as the last release. The road takes you along the ski track over the top of Babin zub, and at the start you will have a 2.5 km ascent. The descent also goes along the ski track next to the Plaža bar, there is no check point at the first pass. You can use water, no filling bottles.
The path leads you along the ski trail across Babin Zub and at the very start you will have 2.5 km of ascent. The descent also follows the ski trail beside the Plaža Restaurant. There is no control point at first pass. You may use water, but no refill. After that you’ll continue along a macadam road downwards Topli Do village where CP-1 will be set at the 14th km (control point & aid station). After that you’ll go towards Beleđe where from now on there is just a “live crossroads”, a volunteer directing you further down towards Belčin Dol. Now there is our main aid station in the mountains. It is CP-2 set at the 33rd km, so be prepared for a long section.
The limit for that control is 8 hours from the start. There you have a drop-bag, refreshments, hot food. From there, you go uphill to Međa mountain and emerge below the peak of Tri čuke, where there is a "live crossroads" and go left towards Vražija glava and continue along the ridge and narrow goat trails above 1,800 m above sea level all the way to the imposing Midžor, where CP-3 is at the 53rd km. Refreshment point is another 1.5 km away. On that road in several places you have springs and streams with drinking water (between Vražija glava and Midžor).
After that, follow the well-known and wide path to Plaža, where the CP-4 is at the 59th km. On CP-4 you have water and food and less than 5 km to the finish line – the hotel Stara Planina / Jabučko ravnište. The limit is 14 h from the start.
Time limits:
CP-2 – Belčin dol 15:00 (8 hours from the start) 15:00 (8 hours from the start)
CP-4 – Plaža 20:00 (13 hours from the start) 20:00 (13 sati od starta)
Finish – Jabučko Ravnište 21:00 (14 hours from the start)

**Important, in this race you can withdraw at CP-2!

Mandatory equipment: astro-foil, glass, rain/wind jacket, mobile phone, headlamp and whistle. Penalties of 30 minutes if one piece of equipment is missing. If two or more items are missing - disqualification. We recommend trekking poles, but you cannot leave them at the points. We especially recommend a GPS device with the race route!
It is possible to put headlamp into your drop bag for Belčin Dol (CP-2), but from there you must have it, because there will be a check at Plaža (CP-4). The headlamps are required for this distance, because of the situation with one runner at the seventh edition of this race.
You must be semi-autonomous (water, gels, etc.).
All additional information about the race will be presented through the final email and at the technical meeting on May 24, Friday at 9:00 p.m. in the Stara Planina hotel (one of the conference rooms).
Start packages pickup - race office to the Stara Planina hotel on May 24, 2024, Friday from 6 to 11 p.m. Packages must be picked up in person and for this race a medical certificate is mandatory, not older than one year.
Applications open at the beginning of December 2023, and close on Thursday, April 25, 2024. at 4 p.m. (this means that payments must be made by then). In the start package, the runner receives a unique finisher's medal and a cotton T-shirt, and the early registration period lasts until 10.1.2024. The registration fee is 6,000 dinars until that date (50 euros). After that date, the registration fee is 7,800 dinars (65 euros).
Applications can be submitted through rka.rs portal. The participant minibus is not organized. trka.rs. Učesnički mini bus neće biti organizovan.
Each participant must wear their starting number in the visible place, frontally. So, between the chest and hips. It can be placed on the jacket or shirt, but must not be covered by the jacket! You must not fold it because the chip will be broken. The loss of the starting number means automatic disqualification. Should you have any complaints, contact us at skyrunning.serbia@gmail.com within 48 hours after the race. After this time no complaints will be taken into consideration.
The recommendation for accommodation for all runners on the 64 km is up on the Jabučka ravnista, near Babin zub in the mountain lodge (4 km from the start), in the Stara Planina hotel, private houses or in the camp above the start in the forest. If you decide to go to the village of Crni Vrh, you must provide your own vehicle, because the village is 10 km from the start/finish of your race. If you choose a camp, it can be cold at this altitude at the end of May, so bring winter equipment.

Award ceremony: Stara Planina hotel, Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the start/finish gate. In case of bad weather, it will be held in the hotel lobby. The first three places in the male and female categories receive prizes.
