Ultra Trail Kopren 100 km / 4.000 D+

The longest and most difficult ultra trail race in Serbia is coming back! A combination of old trails at 130 and 94 km! Incredible landscapes, a serious challenge packed at 2,000m above sea level.
We extended it by that one km, to round it off even since we were unable to maintain that distance in 2020 and 2023.
Start of the race:
The race starts on May 25 (Saturday) 2024 from the Jabučka Ravništa (Stara planina hotel) at 7 a.m. in the morning together with the 64 km race.
Trail description:
The path towards Plaža (first 4 km) is the same. You can use water, but no refill on Plaža. After that, you join the well-known macadam track that leads uphill to Midžor, the highest peak of Stara planina where CP-1 is. So, from Plaža, you separate from your colleagues on 64 km who go to Topli Do. Refreshments are available 4 km before Midžor (9th km of the race – water and sweets, no refills, only limited consumption). At that point, you turn left, towards the Vučje jame. You climb the very border Midžor - CP-1 13th km (check point only) and from there you continue along the ridge and narrow goat trails above 1,800 m.a.s.l. all the way to the imposing peak of Vražja glava. On that road, you have springs and streams with drinking water in several places. When you reach Vražija glava, you do not go to Beledje, but continue towards Tri čuke, where a "live intersection" awaits you, and descend towards Međa mountain in Belčin dol, where CP-2 is at the 33rd km. Refreshment awaits you there. You continue towards Arbinje and Dojkinci, there is water on all sides, and you take a clear road to KT-3 Dojkinci on the 45th km of the race. So, just straight, there is no more Sinošćir and you don't climb to Klisura from there. Limit in Dojkinci – 11h from the start. Mountain lodge, drop-bag, massage, hot food, refreshments, and you can go to Ponor (part of the trail where the 130 km runners descended last year), in order to reach the CP-4 Klisura at the 52nd km, where water and sweets await you. There is no more Dabidžin potok, so from Klisura you continue uphill towards Stražna čuka and emerge directly on the Kopren plateau (the trail from the first edition of the 24h Kopren, this is where you will enter the trail, which is a kilometer longer). You pass by Tri kladenca spring, where you can top up, and follow the narrow border path to Tri čuke. There, a "live intersection" awaits you again, you descend for the second time to Belčin dol, where CP-5 is at the 64th km. There is a limit of 15 hours. from the start, you have refreshment again. You go up to Beledje and from there on a wide macadam road to Topli Do, where CP-6 is at the 85th km. The limit is 20 hours from the start. From there you have 10 km to CP-7 on Plaža, where water and food await you (95th km of the race). Another approx. 5 km to the finish line via Babin zub.
Time limits:
CP3 – Dojkinci 18:00 (11 hours from the start) 18:00 (11 sati od starta)
CP5 – Belčin dol 2, 22:30 (15 and half hours from the start) 22:30 (15 i po sati od starta)

Required equipment:
Astro-foil, glass, rain/wind jacket, mobile phone, headlamp, GPS device and whistle. Penalties of 30 minutes for not having any of them. If more than two items are missing - disqualification. You must have spare batteries for the GPS device, and if you wear a watch, you must have a power bank in your drop-bag. Learning from the experience of previous years, we are introducing a new rule on the longest distance. If something is missing in connection with the GPS device, there is an automatic disqualification (the watch or the device do not work). Stara planina is unpredictable, there were reports of 10 m visibility range during the day in some sections, let alone at night. When the organizer writes that GPS is mandatory, it means that you know to use it and that it works. There are no longer questions of markings, fog, darkness. Take this seriously, this is a very long trail on a wild mountain with no infrastructure. We recommend trekking poles, but you cannot leave them at the check points. You must be semi-autonomous (water, gels, etc.). It is possible to put a headlamp in a drop-bag for Dojkinci, but you have to carry it afterwards, as the check will be at the finish line. The recommendation for accommodation for all runners on the 100 km is up on the Jabučka ravnista, near Babin zub in the mountain lodge (4 km from the start), in the Stara Planina hotel, private houses or in the camp above the start in the forest. If you decide to go to the village of Crni Vrh, you must provide your own vehicle, because the village is 10 km from the start/finish of your race. If you choose a camp, it can be cold at this altitude at the end of May, so bring winter equipment.
